Kumar Palghat

Managing Director

Kumar Palghat is a founder and Managing Director of Kapstream Capital. He is head of Portfolio Management and co-head of Business Management.

Prior to forming Kapstream, Mr Palghat was Director and Head of Portfolio Management, Asia Pacific, for PIMCO Australia from 2001 to late 2006. Mr Palghat joined PIMCO in 1997, and served as Global Portfolio Manager in its Newport Beach, California headquarters until his move to Sydney in 2001. Prior to joining PIMCO, Mr Palghat was Senior Investment Officer at The World Bank, Washington D.C., from 1988 to 1997, where he was part of a team managing a fixed interest portfolio of over $30 billion.

Mr Palghat has appeared in local media on numerous occasions as an expert on the global bond market, and is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars. During his tenure at PIMCO, Mr Palghat and his team received various accolades and recognition from the industry. These included the only '5 Star' rating for Australian Fixed Income from S&P and Morningstar's International Fixed Interest Fund Manager of the Year in 2004. Additionally, the Global Bond Fund managed by Mr Palghat and his team was also rated as the "Best Rated Bond Fund" in 2004 and 2005 by Money Magazine.

Mr Palghat holds a B'com in business from Bangalore University, India, and an MBA in finance/marketing from Marymount University, U.S.A. Mr Palghat has guest lectured at University of Virginia and University of Chicago. Mr Palghat is also a CFA charter holder.
